Hotel review: Anantara Siam, Bangkok (Siam Suite)
Bangkok, May 2018
Introduction
After a beach holiday in Hua Hin I had booked a room for one night at Anantara Siam in Bangkok. I wanted to try a new hotel and this would be our second Anantara experience on this trip after checking out their sister property
Anantara Riverside Resort about a week earlier.
This time I booked a Kasara Club Room directly from the hotel's website. The price was pretty much the same everywhere, but booking directly got us an afternoon tea set for two at the lobby for free, and that sounded like a fun thing to try.
Check-in and lobby
We arrived at the hotel after 2pm, pretty close to a normal check-in time.

Our bags were immediately taken care of by the welcoming staff, and we were seen to the most luxurious lobby I'd ever seen. This really looked like a five star hotel to me! The hotel radiated elegance and style, and there were gorgeous floral arrangements near the entrance.

I approached the counter and presented our booking details as my family took a look at the lobby.
After a moment the receptionist escorted us to the Kasara Executive Lounge for a more private check-in.

Kasara Lounge |
Kasara Lounge has been renovated only a few years ago and it looked very classy. It was nice and peaceful, but still cozy. We were offered coffee and tea while our check-in was processed, and soon everything was in order. The friendly associate told us that we were upgraded to a Junior Suite, and she showed us the way to the room.
Room - Junior Suite
The Junior Suite/Siam Suite is 72sqm in size, so size-wise it's quite a step up from a Kasara Club room which is 42sqm. Even that would have been big enough for our family of three, but of course we didn't mind an upgrade to a suite :)

The room from the 7th floor had large windows towards Royal Bangkok Sports Club, and despite being next to a busy road, it was remarkably quiet! The noise insulation was very good indeed.
|
View from the suite |
There is lots of room for your luggage and clothes, and the same pretty Thai style the lobby boasts is also present in the Suite. There are some local decorations, which help make this room and hotel more Thai ambiance than perhaps some other more generic and newer hotels.

There was an extra bed made ready when we arrived. The main king bed was big and comfortable.

The bathroom is grand with a separate shower, bath tub, double sinks and behind the door a toilet. The bath amenities are by L'occitane.

There's a working desk with a comfortable chair, a sofa with a table and a chair, and a huge TV that can be rotated for a better view from the bed or sofa if you so wish.

There was a buffet spread of sweet items mostly, and it was absolutely gorgeous. Everything so pretty and picturesque! Service was again attentive and with a smile. There was a pianist who played really well and we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere.

We had an option to have breakfast either at the Kasara Lounge or the main buffet downstairs. Obviously the one at Lounge is less comprehensive, but still good, and the service is great. It's also quieter and a very pretty setting to enjoy in calm, stylish environment.
I just had an orange juice and a bun in the Kasara Lounge before heading downstairs for the main breakfast area at Madison & Aqua Lounge

Breakfast beside the pond at Anantara Siam |
The main buffet is extensive, but I think it suffers a bit for being too cramped and spread through different areas. This weakens the overall experience, which otherwise is quite good. Service was attentive and we got a seat next to the pond.
The buffet spread is great, and of high quality. Lots of hot items and also Thai salads like Larb Gai and Somtum! There were some interesting juice options, too. The egg station has a nice menu, although the omelet was slightly dry.

Location
The location is very very good - in the center with walking distance to Erawan Shrine, CentralWorld mall, Ratchadamri BTS (Silom Line) stop. It's also an easy walk to Chit Lom BTS stop (Sukhumvit Line), so you're well connected if you want to avoid being in a traffic jam.
There are a few other quality hotels close-by, such as St. Regis, Waldorf Astoria, Grand Hyatt Erawan, Intercontinental, Renaissance Ratchaprasong, Centara Grand.
It's tough to beat this hotel for location.
Bottomline
We had a very nice one night stay at Anantara Siam Bangkok. Service was good, the Kasara Lounge tranquil and classy, and a great location for being in the thick of things.
We really enjoyed the suite, the splendid afternoon tea, and a tasty breakfast. The rooms are quite expensive for Bangkok, but then you're in for a stylish and luxurious experience.
